From Kirsty Gunn’s review in today’s Guardian of The last of the light: about twilight by Peter Davidson.

In ways which are particular to us, [Davidson] is saying, in end-of-empire Britain, in a northern climate, with a northern cast of mind, twilight is a perfect metaphor by which we may understand the things we love.
